Pro 5:1 My son, attend [pay attention] unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear [listen well] to my [words of] understanding:
Pro 5:2 That thou mayest regard [maintain] discretion, and that thy lips may keep [preserve] knowledge.
Pro 5:3 For the lips of a strange woman [an adulteress] drop [drip honey] as an honeycomb, and her mouth [speech] is smoother than oil:
Pro 5:4 But her end [in the end, she] is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Pro 5:5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on [lead straight to] hell.
Pro 5:6 Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable [crooked], that thou canst not know them.
Pro 5:7 Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not [do not turn aside] from the words of my mouth.
Pro 5:8 Remove thy way [path] far from her, and come not nigh [do not go near] the door of her house:
Pro 5:9 Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the [one who is] cruel:
Pro 5:10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in [enrich] the house of a stranger [another man];
Pro 5:11 And thou [will] mourn [groan] at the last [end of your life], when thy flesh and thy body are consumed [spent],
Pro 5:12 And say, How have I hated instruction [discipline], and [how] my heart despised reproof [correction];
Pro 5:13 And [ I ] have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
Pro 5:14 I was almost [ I have come to the brink] in all evil [of utter ruin] in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
~ Drink waters out of thine own cistern
Pro 5:15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
Pro 5:16 [Should you] Let thy fountains be dispersed [overflow] abroad [in the streets], and rivers of waters in the [public] streets. [?]
Pro 5:17 Let them [thy fountains] be only thine own, and not [shared with] strangers' with thee.
~ Rejoice with the wife of thy youth
Pro 5:18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
Pro 5:19 Let her be as the loving hind [doe] and pleasant roe [deer]; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished [captivated] always with her love.
~ Immorality and Adultery shall Ensnare the Wicked, who shall be led Astray by his own great folly
Pro 5:20 And why wilt thou, my son, [why] be ravished [captivated] with [by] a strange woman [an adulteress], and embrace the bosom of a stranger [another man's wife]?
Pro 5:21 For the ways of [a] man are [in full view] before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth [examines] all his [the man's] goings [paths].
Pro 5:22 His own iniquities [evil deeds] shall take [ensnare] the wicked [man] himself, and he shall be holden [held fast] with the cords of his sins.
Pro 5:23 He
shall die without [for lack of ] instruction [discipline]; and in the
greatness of his [own] folly he shall go [be
led] astray.
