~ The Throne in Heaven

Rev 4:1  After this I [John] looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet [the voice of God, see Rev 1:10 ] talking with me [John]; which said, Come up hither, and I [God] will shew thee [John] things which must be hereafter [take place after this].

[ Many today claim that the phrase "Come up hither" here in Rev 4:1 is God speaking to all Christians to "Come up hither."  Hence, the alleged Pre-Trib Rapture event is claimed to occur here.  However, a careful contextual review of Rev 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 reveals God, Jesus Christ, and an elder are only speaking to John, not to all Christians.  Therefore, no Pre-Trib Rapture event occurs here in Rev 4:1.  This contextual review is shown next: ]

[ In the book of Revelation, John is being shown visions [see Rev 1:10 ] of a future time period.  John hears a great voice, as a trumpet [God] saying to John: "What thou [John] seest, write in a book ..." [see Rev 1:11 ]. ]
[ Jesus Christ repeats this command to John: "Write the things which thou [John] hast seen, and the things which are [now], and the things which shall be hereafter [in the future] [in Rev 1:19 ]." ]
[ In Rev 2, 3 John is instructed to write to the 7 churches [ congregations ] in Asia. ]
[ Here in Rev 4:1 John hears God [as it were of a trumpet] "talking with me [John]; which said, Come up hither, and I [God] will shew thee [John] things which must be hereafter [in the future]." ]
[ Finally, in Rev 5:5, "one of the elders saith unto me [John] ..." ]
[ Therefore, God, Jesus Christ, and an elder are only speaking to John, not to all Christians. ]
[ Consequently, no Pre-Trib Rapture event occurs here in Rev 4:1.]

Rev 4:2  And immediately I [John] was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one [God] sat on the throne.

Rev 4:3  And he [God] that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

Rev 4:4  And round about the throne were four and twenty [ 24 ] seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty [ 24 ] elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

Rev 4:5  And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven [ 7 ] lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven [ 7 ] Spirits of God.

Rev 4:6  And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four [ 4 ] beasts full of eyes before and behind.

Rev 4:7  And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

Rev 4:8  And the four [ 4 ] beasts had each of them six [ 6 ] wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Rev 4:9  And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him [God] that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,  [see Rev 5:14 ]

Rev 4:10  The four and twenty [ 24 ] elders fall down before him [God] that sat on the throne, and worship him [God] that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,  [see Rev 5:14 ]

Rev 4:11  Thou [God] art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou [God] hast created all things, and for thy [God's] pleasure they are and were created.

~ The Scroll and the Lamb

Rev 5:1  And I saw in the right hand of him [God] that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven [ 7 ] seals.

Rev 5:2  And I [John] saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?

Rev 5:3  And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.

Rev 5:4  And I [John] wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.

Rev 5:5  And one of the elders saith unto me [John], Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda [Jesus Christ], the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven [ 7 ] seals thereof.

Rev 5:6  And I [John] beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four [ 4 ] beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain [Jesus Christ], having seven [ 7 ] horns and seven [ 7 ] eyes, which are the seven [ 7 ] Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

Rev 5:7  And he [Jesus Christ] came and took the book out of the right hand of him [God] that sat upon the throne.

Rev 5:8  And when he [Jesus Christ] had taken the book, the four [ 4 ] beasts and four and twenty [ 24 ] elders fell down before the Lamb [Jesus Christ], having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

Rev 5:9  And they sung a new song, saying, Thou [Jesus Christ] art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou [Jesus Christ] wast slain [crucified], and hast redeemed us to God [purchased us, saved us] by thy blood [by the shed blood of the sinless Lamb: Jesus Christ] [, "us" being from] out of every kindred [tribe], and tongue [language], and people, and nation;

Rev 5:10  And [Jesus Christ] hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.  [see Rev 20:4 & 6 ]

Rev 5:11  And I [John] beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand [ 10000  10,000 ] times ten thousand [ 100,000,000  100 million ], and thousands of thousands [millions];

Rev 5:12  Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb [Jesus Christ] that was slain [crucified] to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

Rev 5:13  And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I [John] [I heard them all] saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him [God] that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb [Jesus Christ] for ever and ever.

Rev 5:14  And the four [ 4 ] beasts said, Amen.  And the four and twenty [ 24 ] elders fell down and worshipped him [God] that liveth for ever and ever.  [see Rev 4:9-10 ]
